Yakima teens serve as legislative pages for Rep. Gina Mosbrucker

Sora McPherson and Evelin Severino, both from Yakima, recently served as pages in the Washington State House of Representatives. They were sponsored by Rep. Gina Mosbrucker, R-Goldendale.

As pages, Sora and Evelin observed the Legislature in action and were responsible for delivering messages and documents to legislators in their offices, committee meetings, and the House chamber during floor sessions. During their week in Olympia, they also participated in legislative ceremonies and attended Page School, learning about the Legislature’s role, its process, and its participants.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 17. Additionally, pages are required to obtain written permission from their parents and school.

Sora is a student at A.C. Davis High School and the 15-year-old daughter of Kyle and Maleah McPherson, Yakima. She participates in her school’s extracurricular activities and is an avid reader.

Evelin attends West Valley Innovation Center (West Valley School District) in Yakima. The 16-year-old daughter of Valentin Severino and Carmela Rendon, Evelin enjoys reading, baking, and playing the ukulele.
