Boardman Man Arrested on Shots Fired Incident in Irrigon

About 8:15pm on Monday May 1, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received calls reporting shots fired near the Irrigon Shell Station, in the West parking lot.  Callers reported that a Hispanic male, later identified as Jose Carlos Gonzalez, fired shots toward another man and a red jeep.

During the investigation it was learned that Jose had followed the female victim to the Irrigon Shell station, driving erratically on Highway 730, attempting to stop her vehicle.  A man, known to the female victim, arrived in a red jeep to assist her. At that time, Jose pulled a handgun and fired shots at him (he was not hit).  He left the scene in the red jeep at a high rate of speed.

Jose then attempted to force the female into his car. She resisted and Jose fled the scene.  This incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between Jose and the female victim.

Deputy Killgore and Detective Garcia are investigating this case. After investigation, multiple witness interviews and reviewing multiple videos, Jose Carlos Gonzalez, 37, of Boardman was arrested on the evening of May 5th and lodged in the Umatilla County Jail.  He has been charged with Attempted Kidnapping II, Attempted Assault I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Harassment – Domestic Violence and Recklessly Endangering Another.  He is lodged with no bail. This investigation in on-going.
