Rep. Peter Abbarno gives Republican perspective to governor’s State of the State; says Washingtonians deserve real solutions to kitchen table issues

Following Governor Jay Inslee’s State of the State Address Tuesday, Republicans suggested their own ideas about improving conditions in the state of Washington.

In the Republican Response, House Republican Assistant Floor Leader Peter Abbarno said a decade of the governor’s policies have failed Washingtonians:

“For 10 years, the governor’s personal agenda – supported by his majority party in the Legislature – has failed on critical issues, such as affordability, public safety, housing, homelessness, and education. You can draw a straight line from the policies of the Legislature and the governor to many of the problems we face today.”

Abbarno said citizens deserve real solutions to the real everyday kitchen table issues they face:

“What we need are real solutions that help build stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger Washington. Solutions that put people before programs and touch every corner of our state.”

Abbarno says that includes tax relief, rolling back burdensome regulations that prevent new housing, treatment for mental health and addiction, restoring law enforcement’s ability to do their jobs, and giving parents choices in education.
