Cluck Around and Find Out

A Florida man landed in jail for taking an unpaid job at Popeyes that he was never hired for.

Police in St. Petersburg say 25-year-old Matthew Klassen climbed into a closed Popeyes restaurant through the drive-thru window around 3 a.m., then filmed himself pretending to work the late shift. Investigators say video shows him acting like he was taking customer orders and tapping away at the restaurant’s computer system. He allegedly left with just one stolen item: a bottle of water.

Police say Klassen admitted entering the restaurant and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on a felony burglary charge, posted bond, and has pleaded not guilty. Authorities haven’t said whether the video was meant for social media or was simply a case of very unusual late-night entertainment. (The Smoking Gun)
