10/27 Klickitat County Commissioners meeting

Klickitat County Commissioners met on Tuesday. During the morning workshop session there was a discussion over the Short-Term Rental Draft Ordinance.  Commissioners and staff had a near hour long discussion trying to make sure when the final draft is voted on that they look at a few more items and see if they make sense for the final vote.  After tossing around ideas about conflicts with neighbors, sample fee schedule and time of notices, Commissioners instructed staff to work on those items and come back in two weeks with a report.

In the afternoon session, many people, in person and online gave their thoughts on Commissioners enacting a Data Center Moratorium sooner than later.

Also on the agenda, was an amendment to the 6-year Transportation Plan. Public Works Director Jeff Hunter said the County was able to secure funding for the Bickleton Highway Project:

“We secured funding for construction in both phases to the tune of $7 million in STP or federal highway gas tax dollars, which allows us to add that project. While that money will not be spent this year to award a contract this year, it still needs to be on this plan.”

What portion of the Bickleton is it, Hunter explains:

“It’s the last bad piece when you come out of Rock Creek and you’re heading in towards Bickleton. So that will clean up that and that road will be good pretty much all the way to Bickleton.”

Commissioners voted in favor of the Amendment. Commissioners will be holding a Public Hearing on the Plan on November 10th in Goldendale and White Salmon.
