Gregor Corse is a five-year-old boy in Scotland who lives with a medical condition that affects his balance. The simple act of walking has been a challenge for Gregor since he was born.
He recently told his mom he wanted to walk outside “like other boys and girls.” To build up his strength, he set out to complete 30 laps around his house every day for a month to raise money for Inclusive Orkney, a local group that supports kids with extra needs.
The community rallied behind him in a big way. Local businesses sponsored him. Neighbors cheered him on. Firefighters even brought their engine to offer big, loud support.
By simply walking laps around his house — and inspiring his community to donate — Gregor raised more than $100,000 for Inclusive Orkney. The incredible effort earned him the Youngest Fundraiser of the Year honor at the Pride of Britain Awards.
His mother, Iona, is thrilled by Gregor’s accomplishments, but is also admittedly surprised by all he’s done. “I never expected it. To me, he’s the most phenomenal boy in the world, but there are so many other children doing amazing things that you hear about on Pride of Britain,” Iona said. “I never, in my wildest dreams, thought he’d win.”
