Basketball legend Michael Jordan is honoring his mom in a big way by making a record-breaking $10 million donation to his alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Announced on the birthday of his mother, Deloris, the gift is the largest in the history of the School of Social Work. The school renamed its global youth center in her honor and launched a new scholarship program that gives graduate students $12,500 each to help fight the shortage of local social workers.
In a sweet video message to his mom, who has worked with the school for nearly 40 years, MJ said he was proud to honor her, while 10 student scholars walked across the stage to hand her red roses in a heartwarming birthday surprise.
