An Orlando, Florida man says desperation during a tough job search led him to hire an Etsy tarot reader, jokingly referred to as an “Etsy witch,” to help boost his chances of landing a job. But it ended working a little too well.
Five days later, William Rath, a law school graduate, says interview requests started pouring in so quickly that he posted a viral TikTok video asking the witch to “chill” because he was struggling to keep up with the back-to-back interviews. Rath says he never actually paid for a spell, just a tarot reading about when he might find work in law or marketing. While there’s no evidence the reading caused the sudden surge in interviews, Rath says it may have given him more confidence during his job search.
The story has sparked plenty of online reactions, with some viewers asking for the witch’s contact information and others joking that they’re ready to try a little magic themselves. (The Mary Sue)
