Two Texas customers are suing Popeyes and its parent company for $1.5 million, claiming they found a “condom-like” object embedded in a piece of fried chicken they purchased at a Houston restaurant.
According to the lawsuit, one customer bit into the chicken, discovered the object, and both plaintiffs say they became nauseated and worried they may have consumed contaminated food. The lawsuit alleges the couple experienced emotional distress and says restaurant employees failed to adequately address their concerns. Popeyes disputes the claim, saying an internal review suggests the object was likely a restaurant glove that accidentally fell into the batter. The chain says it refunded the customers and apologized, while maintaining the incident does not reflect its standards. The case is now headed through the Texas court system. (Toronto Sun)
