LOS ANGELES (AP) — Oregon quarterback Dante Moore left the Coliseum field in an ambulance and wearing a neck brace after the Heisman Trophy candidate was hit roughly by Southern California linebacker Desman Stephens during a slide in the second quarter. Stephens’ hit resulted in his ejection and sparked a melee on the field while Moore was receiving immediate medical attention. The Ducks quarterback is an expected high pick in the next NFL draft. Oregon beat USC 41-27, and the Ducks were thrilled about an important win while also concerned about Moore and furious at Stephens.
Atkinson throws 3 TD passes in Oregon State’s 33-7 win over UTEP
EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Braden Atkinson threw three touchdown passes and AJ Newberry ran for 111 yards and a score to help Oregon State beat UTEP 33-7. Atkinson completed 24 of 34 passes for 301 yards. Jesse Legree had six receptions for 109 yards receiving and two scores for Oregon State (2-2). EJ Colson Jr. threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Carver Cheeks to pull UTEP (1-3) to 20-7 with 10:08 to play in the third quarter. Colson was 16-of-23 passing for 119 yards. It was the first meeting between the teams.
Fifita throws 4 touchdown passes in Arizona’s 34-24 win over Washington State
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Noah Fifita threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns and Arizona overcame a halftime deficit for a 34-24 victory over Washington State on Saturday night. Tre Spivey III had Arizona seven catches for 129 yards and two scores for the Wildcats in the game between the two former Pac-12 foes. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Cougars at home. Quarterback Caden Pinnick threw for 241 yards and a touchdown.
Drake Lindsey throws 3 touchdowns in the first half as Minnesota holds off Washington 27-24
SEATTLE (AP) — Drake Lindsey tossed three touchdowns in the first half to three different receivers and Minnesota defeated Washington 27-24. Lindsey completed his first eight passes and finished 21 for 29 for 204 yards. He found seven different receivers with Javon Tracy grabbing seven receptions for 41 yards and a score. Lindsey, who threw three first-half touchdowns for the first time in his career, found Quayd Hendryx in the back corner of the end zone for a 15-yard score to put the Gophers (3-1) up 7-0. He made another excellent throw just beyond the reach of a Washington defender for a 9-yard score to Jalen Smith to put Minnesota up 14-0. Washington’s Demond Williams Jr. was 17-for-27 passing for 207 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
