Kentucky’s biggest Powerball winner is back in trouble with the law.
James Farthing, who shared a record $167.3 million jackpot with his mother in 2025, was arrested early Sunday after deputies found him asleep in a running car in a Walmart parking lot. Authorities say they were responding to reports of a car stopped in an intersection before it moved to the Walmart lot. Deputies found Farthing alone in the vehicle and said he showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and trouble keeping his balance. He was charged with public intoxication.
The arrest marks Farthing’s fifth run-in with law enforcement since winning the lottery last year. Previous headline-making arrests have included kicking a cop in the face, burglarizing a house, drug possession, and domestic violence-related charges. Some charges have since been dismissed, while others remain pending. (USA Today)
