The Dalles, Ore. — Parents and caregivers have enough to keep track of. That’s why Four Rivers Family Early Learning & Parenting Hub is excited to introduce Early Bird Texting, a free text message service designed to help families with young children stay informed about local opportunities, resources, and events.
Families who sign up can receive personalized text messages based on the information that matters most to them. Whether they’re looking for preschool enrollment updates, free family activities, parenting classes, child development resources, or community events, Early Bird Texting makes it easy to stay connected without searching multiple websites or social media pages.
Parents can choose the types of messages they want to receive, including:
- Local family events
- Parenting resources and classes
- Preschool and kindergarten readiness information
- Early childhood programs and services
- And more…
Families can also select their preferred language and county to receive information that is relevant to where they live.
“Families told us they wanted an easier way to learn about opportunities in their communities,” said Four Rivers Family. “Early Bird Texting helps bring trusted information directly to parents, saving time and helping ensure they don’t miss important programs, deadlines, or free family activities.”
The service is free, and families can opt out at any time.

Community Partners Invited to Help Families Stay Connected
Four Rivers Family is inviting schools, child care providers, healthcare organizations, libraries, community organizations, and other family-serving agencies to help spread the word about Early Bird Texting.
Partners can:
- Share the sign-up link with families.
- Display flyers or posters in their buildings.
- Include Early Bird Texting in newsletters and social media.
- Invite Four Rivers Family to present at staff meetings or community events.
- Submit family-friendly events, workshops, and programs to be shared through Early Bird Texting with families across Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, and Wheeler counties.

About Four Rivers Family Early Learning and Parenting Hub
Housed within the Columbia Gorge Education Service District, Four Rivers Family Early Learning and Parenting Hub works in collaboration with local community partners across Gilliam, Hood River, Sherman, Wasco, and Wheeler Counties to connect families with resources and programs that ensure better overall outcomes for young children. The hub focuses on three key goals: preparing children for kindergarten, promoting stable and attached families, and coordinating and aligning services.
