Here’s a warning to parents of squishy-obsessed kids. It turns out some of those toys, including popular NeeDoh squishies, can get stopped at TSA checkpoints because the gel or liquid inside may exceed the liquid restriction of 3.4 ounces.
The policy has caught plenty of families off guard. Some parents say their kids were left in tears after favorite squishies were flagged at security, forcing them to either surrender the toy, check a bag, or even mail it home before boarding.
The problem is that many squishies don’t clearly state how much gel is inside, making it hard to know whether they’ll pass inspection.
If your kid can’t bear the thought of losing their prized squishy, TSA’s advice is to pack it in checked luggage.
