It seems this California man took the old adage to never make a decision on an empty stomach a little too seriously.
While on the run from the Monrovia Police Department, the man made a pit stop to grab a bite at Panda Express. Unfortunately for him, two police officers also had a craving for egg rolls and cream cheese wontons – and recognized him the moment he walked in.
Before he could satisfy his growling stomach, the officers arrested him on a no-bail felony probation warrant. The MPB posted video of the encounter to Instagram, noting the man had twice fled from officers over the course of a month.
But luck, and PE’s signature orange chicken, were on their side this time.
“You’ve been wanted, you’ve been running from me for like a month,” an officer said as she put the man in handcuffs.
And while the officers were finally able to make their arrest, the department is giving Panda Express its due.
“At this point, we’re not sure if it was good police work, bad timing, or the irresistible smell of chow mein,” it said.
