Trees weren’t the only things falling at the Lumberjack World Championships.
According to The Associated Press, the competitive logging event, which concluded Saturday in Hayward, Wisconsin, saw three new world records set by women.
Karolina Urbanová, of the Czech Republic, earned first place in the Women’s Underhand Chop and Women’s Standing Chop races, breaking world records in each. For the Underhand Chop, she cut through 11 inches of white pine in 21.28 seconds, while she took 19.38 seconds to cut through 9 inches of white pine in the Standing Chop.
Meanwhile, Hayward local Meredith Ingbretson ran the Women’s Boom Run, which involves running across eight red cedar logs floating on water, in a record-breaking 13.78 seconds.
Talk about bringing the lumber.
