A raccoon’s peanut butter heist was not exactly smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy.
The Shelburne Fire Department in Vermont reports that it rescued a raccoon that found itself high up in a tree with a jar of peanut butter stuck on its head.
“Upon arrival, crews located the raccoon approximately 25 feet in a tree,” the Shelburne FD writes in an Instagram post. “It appeared to have had a little too much luck finding the peanut butter, but not quite enough luck removing the container afterward.”
“Firefighters deployed a ground ladder and safely removed the container using a snare, restoring the raccoon’s vision and, to some extent, its dignity,” the post continues. “No injuries were reported, aside from a notable hit to the raccoon’s pride.”
The rescue happened on St. Patrick’s Day, so perhaps the raccoon was trying to split the PB instead of the G.
