Churn, baby, churn: Runners turning exercise into butter

As if runners aren’t already impressive enough with their willingness to leave their home and engage in physical activity, this running couple is taking things up a notch.

Libby Cope tells the CBC that she and her boyfriend, Jacob Arnold, have been churning butter by attaching Ziploc bags of heavy cream and salt to their torsos while running.

“We Googled it and there weren’t any prior runners, to our knowledge, that successfully made butter,” Cope says. “So we were like … OK, so we’d maybe be the first?”

Once the butter is successfully churned, Cope and Arnold spread and eat their hard-earned reward.

We still prefer the butter that doesn’t require any running.
