Not content with going on a W-A-L-K, this dog wanted to R-A-C-E.
Cross-country skiers competing in an Olympic course during the ongoing Winter Games in Italy were surprised to see a dog run onto the track as they were crossing the finish line.
According to NPR, the dog is named Nazgul and belongs to a family related to an event official.
“He was crying this morning more than normal because he was seeing us leaving — and I think he just wanted to follow us,” says Nazgul’s parent. “He always looks for people.”
Or, perhaps Nazgul sensed that one of the racers was in possession of the One Ring.
Either way, Nazgul fortunately didn’t impact the result of the race — by the time he made his dramatic entrance, NPR notes that “the top medal contenders had already finished.”
We still think Nazgul deserves a gold medal, or at least a T-R-E-A-T.
