A pelican flies into a bar and the bartender asks, “Why the long beak?”
We assume that’s what happened when a pelican showed up near the R Bar in Treasure Island, Florida. As for its answer, it would’ve probably mentioned that it’s injured. That is, if pelicans could talk.
Of course, pelicans can’t talk, but the bird was lucky that Officer Baum of the Treasure Island Police Department was nearby to help out.
“Officer Baum heard the bird call (literally) and turned into a pelican whisperer near R-bar,” Treasure Island PD writes in an Instagram post. “She swooped in, helped an injured young pelican to safety, and got it into the hands of the pros at Seaside Seabird Sanctuary for some top-tier TLC.”
The post adds, “Just another ‘beak-tacular’ day in Treasure Island… but this one was definitely for the birds!”
