Red hot chili bettor: Bar owner forced to eat only Wendy’s chili after losing wager

A bar owner is betting on his digestive tract after losing a wager of a different type.

WIVT reports that Larry Shea, who owns Tom & Marty’s Town House in Binghamton, New York, had bet that golfer Scottie Scheffler would not win a recent tournament. When Scheffler did win, Shea had to fulfill his promise to eat Wendy’s chili for every meal of the day for a whole month.

“I mean Wendy’s Chili is good and it’s surprisingly, I didn’t know it at the time, but thankfully it’s pretty healthy,” Shea says.

In an attempt to answer what surely is your first question, Shea ponders, “So, what possessed me to think the idea and pick Wendy’s Chili? I don’t know. I don’t know.”

“So, in a way, it was, if I’m going to pick a food, a stupid food to eat, it was actually a good idea,” he says.

News of Shea’s chili endeavor even reached Wendy’s, which has sent him gift cards and merch, as well as words of encouragement on social media.
