Wasco County is proud to announce that the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs has approved a grant to re-establish a student led Campus Veteran Resource Center (CVRC) at Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) in The Dalles. Chelsea Perritt, Wasco County Veteran Service Officer, in partnership with Tiffany Prince and Dezi Remington of CGCC, successfully authored the grant proposal with the full support of the college’s President’s Council.
The primary goal of this initiative is to support rural veterans not only in transitioning to college, but in completing degrees and certifications and successfully entering or advancing in the workforce.
The center will achieve these outcomes by focusing on three core pillars: mental health, fellowship, and stewardship. This student-centered, veteran-led approach ensures that rural veterans at CGCC have the comprehensive support they need to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.
