OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced today that its new MyWDFW mobile application is now available for free download in the Google Play and Apple app stores.
With 2026 licensing products for sale starting today and valid at the start of the new license year on April 1, 2026, the app is available for hunters and anglers to plan ahead for next season.
The MyWDFW app is a comprehensive mobile licensing tool for both hunters and anglers. It supports license purchases, displays active hunting and fishing license privileges, and enables electronic tagging for a wide range of game species, including deer, elk, turkey, and black bear. App users can also report migratory bird harvests and submit end-of-season harvest reports.
Other functionalities incorporated into MyWDFW, and also available in the newly updated Fish Washington® app, include catch record cards for select fish species and an Enforcement View for WDFW officers, along with access to customer licensing (WILD) profiles.
People can choose between paper licenses and mobile licenses for the upcoming 2026 license year. To enroll as a mobile license holder for 2026, customers should:
- Log in to fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov.
- Verify their WILD licensing account.
- Select Mobile License Holder for the 2026 license year. Once customers select this option, they will use mobile licenses only for the 2026 license year.
- Download the MyWDFW app from the Google Play or Apple app stores.
- Log in to the MyWDFW app using their WILD username and password.
App users who opt to become a mobile license customer will have valid mobile license products at the start of the new license year on April 1, 2026.
With the launch of the MyWDFW mobile app, people with existing 2025 licensing products will remain paper license holders through the 2025 license year and then will have the option to switch to mobile for the 2026 license year. For the rest of the current calendar year, 2025 licensing products will also be available exclusively in paper.
MyWDFW’s launch is the first step in the Department’s long-term plan to phase out durable-paper stock licenses in favor of mobile licensing, with an option for an 8.5 x 11 available at each customer’s preference. The Department will share more information about this transition as it becomes available.
The app’s creation follows rule making and a public comment opportunity the Department conducted in 2023 to allow electronic licensing, electronic tagging, or e-tagging, and catch reporting using mobile applications. More information about that effort is available in a prior WDFW news release.
More information about the MyWDFW app is available on WDFW’s website. More information about both apps, their differences, and tips to help guide users to their preferred app is also available on WDFW’s website.
The Department notes that app store experiences can vary by region, device compatibility, and changes in app store algorithms. If the MyWDFW mobile app doesn’t appear in a licensing customer’s app store, they can still opt to buy a mobile license from WDFW’s online licensing system, contact us by phone at 360-902-2464, or visit any of the more than 600 license dealers around the state. The Department anticipates that any inconsistencies in the app’s availability in the app store from device to device should be remedied in the coming weeks.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife works to preserve, protect and perpetuate fish, wildlife and ecosystems while providing sustainable fish and wildlife recreational and commercial opportunities.
