Oregon State Emergency Board Proposes $2.5 Million for Rowena

Wasco County is pleased to announce a significant step forward in securing the necessary resources for the ongoing Rowena debris cleanup effort.

On Tuesday, November 18, the Oregon Legislature’s Emergency Board (E-Board) voted to approve $2.5 million in state Emergency Funds. This critical allocation represents a large portion of the estimated $3.5 million total cost for the cleanup.

“We are incredibly grateful to the members of the Emergency Board for their swift action and commitment to our community’s recovery,” said Scott Hege, Wasco County Commission Chair. “This $2.5 million provides the foundation we need to be able to move forward soon with the cleanup and restoration of the Rowena area.”

While the E-Board’s approval is a major win, the County is actively pursuing the remaining $1 million needed to fully fund the project. We are working with the state to secure this final amount through other available programs and are very hopeful and committed to getting the full funding needed so the cleanup can move forward smoothly.

Thank you for your patience and resilience as we work together to rebuild and restore the Rowena community.
