Who says playing hours and hours of video games is a waste of time?
Hungarian gamer Szabolcs Csépe, known as GrassHopper, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest video game marathon by playing Dance Dance Revolution for 144 hours straight.
The previous record had been set by American Carrie Swidecki, who played the video game Just Dance for 138 hours and 34 seconds back in 2015.
GrassHopper, who holds several other video game-related records, tells Guinness, “For me, by far this attempt was the most physically demanding experience, where the arms and shoulders expressed fatigue for extended hours without stretching.”
“Apart from physically training for marathon gaming sessions, I prepared with the two most important keys to succeed: doing serious practice attempts with a small staff, and also coming up with a plan for supporting your body with sufficient food and water intake,” he says.
Not only did he break a world record, GrassHopper also burned over 22,000 calories in the process.
Be sure to bring that up when your parents demand to know what you plan on doing with your life.
