Mariners exercise 2026 option on closer Andrés Muñoz
SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners exercised their $6 million club option for 2026 on closer Andrés Muñoz, general manager Justin Hollander announced Tuesday.
Muñoz, 26, went 3-3 with a 1.73 ERA and a career-high 38 saves, third-most in the major leagues. He did not allow any runs in seven postseason innings while getting two saves.
Muñoz signed a $7.5 million. four-year deal ahead of the 2022 season that included three club options. The 2027 price is $8 million and the 2028 price is $10 million.
Olivia Moultrie signs extension with the NWSL’s Portland Thorns through 2029
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Thorns have signed midfielder Olivia Moultrie to a contract extension that will keep her with the National Women’s Soccer League team through 2029. Moultrie signed with the Thorns in 2021 at 15 after filing a lawsuit against the NWSL that challenged a rule prohibiting players under 18. She has appeared in 95 NWSL matches with the Thorns, scoring 18 goals with 11 assists. The 20-year-old has also made 10 appearances with the national team.
The Portland Trail Blazers host the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight at 7.
