A lottery player in Massachusetts was seeing double when he learned he possessed two winning Powerball tickets.
According to lottery officials, Paul Corcoran had originally purchased one ticket for the July 9 Powerball drawing. However, as he “mistakenly thought the final drawing on that ticket had already occurred,” he purchased another for that same drawing using the same numbers.
So when his numbers were called — white balls 5, 9, 25, 28, 69 and red Powerball 5 — Corcoran discovered that he’d won the $1 million prize twice for a total of $2 million before taxes.
According to Powerball, “Corcoran told the Massachusetts Lottery the wins feel good, and that he does not have any plans for his winnings yet.”
