Wasco County is looking for people who are interested in providing guidance on the public
transportation system in the County. Public transportation is a vital service for all Wasco County
residents, especially groups who rely on public transportation such as older adults, those with lower incomes, or those living with a disability. The Wasco County Public Transportation Advisory Committee strives to represent all members of the community, particularly these identified groups.
The Committee advises Wasco County’s Commissioners and Public Transportation providers (such asThe Link Public Transit) on how transportation funds should be spent, as well as providing information about the community’s special transportation needs, particularly how proposed projects and operations will benefit seniors and persons with disabilities.
The Committee is staffed by Mid-Columbia Economic Development District (MCEDD). Committee positions are voluntary with a two-year term and meetings are held quarterly,approximately four times per year at The Dalles Transit Center, with a virtual attendance option.

Free Transit Passes for Employees, Residents in Downtown The Dalles
Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, as operator of The Link Public Transportation, and the City of The Dalles have partnered to offer a free 12-month Gorge Transit Pass to residents living in and employees working in The Dalles’ Central Business Commercial zoning district!
Now in its second year, The Dalles Downtown Transit Pass Program offers free transit passes to eligible employees and residents, encouraging the use of public transit, helping with congestion and parking, and contributing to a more sustainable and livable community. The pass provides unlimited rides on The Link Public Transit fixed routes and the regional transit system throughout the Gorge, including the Columbia Gorge Express to Portland.
