If you think parallel parking is nerve-racking already, what if we added a whole neighborhood of people to watch and judge you?
While that may sound like a newly created circle of Hell, it’s actually the idea for a contest created by residents of Portland, Oregon.
Organizer Daniel tells ABC News he lives by a restaurant and often sees drivers attempting to parallel park close to his house. With that in mind, he and a friend decided to launch a competition to see who around town was the best parallel parker.
A fair share of people showed up to put their skills to the test in an effort to win the prize of a gold-painted toy car. The winner was determined by a number of different factors, including car length, time to finish parking and distance from the curb.
One key rule: rearview cameras were not allowed.
Clearly, Portland lives in a parallel universe where parallel parking is considered “fun.”
