A participant in the recent Brooklyn Half Marathon was running in the hopes of walking down the aisle.
As reported by the New York Post, 28-year-old Tess Tregellas took part in the race while wearing a wedding gown, which she thought might lead her to meeting The One.
While Tregellas did cross the finish line in about 2 1/2 hours, she did so without any proposals.
“Honestly, I think I scare men away,” Tregellas tells the Post. “But women love it and that’s really what it’s for — to encourage women that you can be a bride any day of your life!”
Tregellas’ race getup also included the phrase “Just hopeful” written on a sign taped to the back of her dress.
“A lot of people asked to take my picture, which I loved because I felt like a celebrity,” she says. “It also opens up a lot of conversation and you get to know the people who are running alongside you.”
