The Dalles, Oregon – City crews will be crack sealing asphalt on streets at more than 60 locations throughout the City starting Monday May 20 through Monday June 30, 2025 beginning at 7:00 am each day, weather permitting. No park signs will be placed on the curb at least 48 hours ahead of scheduled work.
CRACK SEAL- Is a spot treatment of specialized materials injected into cracks in existing pavement surfaces to prevent intrusion of water and weeds. Plant root intrusion widens cracks and can hasten degradation of the road surface.
Crack sealing may be a standalone preservation project or used in combination with chip sealing. The crack sealing crew moves quickly along the work area, causing minor traffic disruption.
Crack seal provides a simple, cost effective way to extend the service life of existing roadways and “keeping good roads good”.
Motorists are asked to watch for the crews and avoid driving on rubberized asphalt crack seal until it is set. These crack seal projects will require short duration road closures between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at each location for the protection of workers and to allow time for the seal to set.
This road work is expected to extend the service life of the pavement structure.
Please proceed with caution in these areas during construction times and observe all temporary traffic control devices. Thank you for your assistance during this work.
