Wasco County Launches “Perimeter” to Enhance Emergency Communication and Public Safety

Wasco County has launched Perimeter, a dynamic mapping platform designed to significantly enhance public safety messaging and emergency response capabilities. This innovative tool will serve as a central hub for disseminating critical information in real-time to residents during emergencies.

Perimeter’s user-friendly map interface provides a clear and visual representation of emergency situations, enabling residents to quickly understand the scope and impact of an event. Officials will be able to post rapid updates on evacuation orders, road closures, and resource locations, ensuring swift and accurate information dissemination.

“Perimeter represents a significant leap forward in our ability to communicate with the public during emergencies,” said Sheridan McClellan, Emergency Manager for Wasco County. “This platform empowers us to deliver crucial information quickly and efficiently, ultimately improving the safety of our community.”

In addition to providing real-time updates, Perimeter allows first responders to draw evacuation zones and share them directly from the scene of an emergency, significantly cutting down on delays in broadcasting evacuation information. The map interface also provides the public a clear and intuitive understanding of emergency situations. Furthermore, Perimeter works in conjunction with the existing Citizen Alert system, ensuring multi-channel emergency notifications to those in affected areas.

The public can access Perimeter and view real-time updates by visiting perimetermap.com/wascocounty-or from any internet-connected device.

Partner agencies, including fire districts, cities, and schools, have access to utilize the platform for training and operational needs, fostering collaboration and improving overall emergency preparedness in addition to utilizing the platform for other important information like planned road closures or hazards. Wasco County is committed to utilizing technology to improve public safety and emergency preparedness. Perimeter is a valuable tool that will enhance communication and ensure the community receives timely and accurate information during critical events.
