The 2024-25 California Upland Game Bird Stamp features a stunning painting of white-winged doves perched on a cactus, created by Kathy Holeman of The Dalles, Oregon. Holeman’s vibrant artwork was selected by a panel of experts, including ornithologists and conservationists, for its originality, anatomical accuracy, and artistic composition. Judges were captivated by the doves’ vibrant colors, set against a backdrop of blue sky and pink flowers.
The annual contest, sponsored by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), also recognized Jeffrey Klinefelter (Indiana) and Xochitl Acosta Brent (Redwood City, CA) for second and third place, respectively.
