On February 26th, 2025, Hood River Police Department Officers stopped in an adult male who was taken into custody following observations of poor driving and multiple indicators of impairment during field sobriety tests. The male’s Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was revealed to be more than 1.5 times the legal limit. An additional charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm was also added. This incident exemplifies some of the challenges our officers encounter while on patrol. We will remain vigilant and do our best to ensure the roadways remain safe for all.
Interesting fact: Oregon ranks 6th in the United States for drunk drivers. What is the significance? This means that Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) is not just a problem in Hood River, but a statewide concern. We will continue to advise our community and visitors that driving while impaired is a choice, and sometimes those choices have devastating consequences. We will continue to be proactive in enforcing DUII laws in Hood River. Let’s work together to change Oregon’s ranking from 6th to last in DUII’s.
