Who has the best job in America? According to U.S. News & World Report, it’s nurse practitioners.
NPs, of course, are nurses who’ve “undergone clinical training beyond registered nurse preparation.” U.S News ranked the profession #1 on its list of “The Best Jobs in America in 2025” based on the job market, pay and opportunities for advancement.
Nurse practitioners typically make more than six figures, with a median salary of more than $126,000 in 2023. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 46% increase in the number of NPs by 2033.
IT manager comes in at #2 on the ranking, followed by physician assistant, financial manager and software developer.
