1/21 Goldendale City Council

Story by Rodger Nichols for Gorge Country Media

The Goldendale City Council met last night in a meeting delayed a day due to the federal holiday Monday. Counicilors did vote in a couple of ordinances that replaced earlier ordinances in order to comply with new Federal Emergency Management Agency guidelines.

Code Enforcement Officer Robert Thompson reported the city had issued 160 building permits in 2024, representing more than $2 million dollars worth of improvements.

And Chief Mike Smith had a report on police caseload:

“This year we finished with 3,282 calls. That was a 308 call increase from last year. 224 complaints of traffic, in 2024, with 334. And part of that is, on this case load we don’t have the manpower to do the traffic as we used to.”
