EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — JuJu Watkins scored 21 points to lead No. 6 Southern California to a 66-53 win over Oregon in the Big Ten opener for both teams on Saturday. Watkins was 6 for 15 from the field, including 3 of 9 on 3-pointers, in 28 minutes before fouling out. Kiki Iriafen added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Trojans (8-1, 1-0 Big Ten). Deja Kelly scored 16 points and Peyton Scott added 13 points to lead the Ducks (7-3, 0-1).
Claude scores 20 points, leads hot-shooting USC over Washington 85-61 to end a three-game skid
SEATTLE (AP) — Desmond Claude scored 20 points to lead four in double figures and Southern California rolled to an 85-61 victory over Washington to end a three-game skid. USC shot 70% (19 of 27) in the first half for a 26-point lead, 51-25, at the break. Claude and Wesley Yates III each scored 12 points and Saint Thomas added 10 for USC (6-4, 1-1 Big Ten). Washington pulled within 22 points early in the second but didn’t get closer. Mekhi Mason scored 15 points to lead Washington (6-3, 0-2).
Parsa Fallah scores 25 and Oregon State defeats Idaho 78-62
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Parsa Fallah scored 25 points in Oregon State’s 78-62 victory over Idaho on Saturday night.
Fallah shot 10 of 16 from the field and 5 for 8 from the line for the Beavers (6-2). Michael Rataj scored 14 points while going 4 of 12 and 6 of 7 from the free-throw line and added eight rebounds and five steals. Liutauras Lelevicius had nine points and finished 4 of 6 from the field.
Tyler Mrus led the way for the Vandals (4-6) with 15 points. Jack Payne added 12 points for Idaho. Kyson Rose had eight points.
Oregon State took the lead with 13:13 left in the first half and did not relinquish it. The score was 36-30 at halftime, with Fallah racking up 10 points. Oregon State extended its lead to 67-43 during the second half, fueled by a 14-2 scoring run. Fallah scored a team-high 15 points in the second half as the Beavers closed out the win.
