Mt. Hood National Forest and Bagby Preservation are pleased to announce that Bagby Hot Springs and Campground will reopen on Saturday, September 21 at 8:00 a.m., after being closed since early August due to the Sandstone Fire.
Although the Sandstone Fire spread to 1.5 miles north of the Bagby Trailhead, Bagby Hot Springs was not affected by the fire thanks to the efforts of fire crews and favorable weather. The Sandstone Fire is currently 75% contained and being managed by local fire staff.
Bagby Preservation staff will remain onsite to manage operations and ensure safety as the hot springs reopen to the public. Bagby Campground is first-come, first-served and accepts cash or check.
There will still be a fire closure area around Sandstone Fire, but Forest Road 70 will reopen on Saturday morning. Please be aware that there may still be fire or road crews on the travel routes and drive cautiously.
