Washington police are trained to tackle just about any situation that arises, but a wallaby on the loose isn’t one of them.
However, that’s exactly what they encountered when they responded to a radio dispatch alerting them to the 2 1/2-foot marsupial that had “big ears and tiny forearms.”
A video obtained by the Seattle Times shows Washington State Patrol troopers making several unsuccessful attempts to corral the wallaby before a trooper was able to tackle it, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Darren Moss said in a statement obtained by the outlet.
Moss also reported that the animal was returned to its home at Debbie Dolittle’s Petting Zoo near where it was found.
Adding a little wrinkle to the story, the zoo told the Times, “That’s not our wallaby.”
