Justice takes a powder: Man’s drug charge dropped after prosecutor learns its baking powder, not cocaine

A Canadian man was literally about to be sentenced by a judge for cocaine trafficking when the federal prosecutor interrupted with some important news: the cocaine he’d had in his possession was actually baking powder.

Brendon Bolduc, 37, broke down in tears after hearing the news. The charges could have resulted in a long prison sentence, according to The London Free Press.

However, Bolduc isn’t completely off the hook. There’s still the matter of the other charges of breaking and entering, breaching an undertaking and two counts of possessing stolen property.

And these are just his latest woes.

Bolduc was sentenced in 2022 to six months in jail for a series of crimes, including possessing stolen property. He was also on probation in 2017 for possessing a stolen ATV and got in trouble in 2016 for not doing his court-ordered community service.
