City of The Dalles Seeks Community Input on Tourism Vision and Transient Room Tax Use

The Dalles, Oregon – The City of The Dalles is seeking community input on tourism and the use of Transient Room Tax (TRT) revenues via a survey available on the City’s website and Facebook page, accepting responses until July 15th at 5:00 PM.

Staff is proposing a review of the City’s ordinance and uses of TRT, and is engaging in a three-part discussion process with City Council with a focus on:

  • Soliciting input and guidance on the vision of tourism in the community.
  • Reviewing and updating the ordinance levying and collecting TRT.
  • Establishing goals and metrics for a procurement process for tourism services related to the required use of TRT for tourism advertising, promotion, and tourism facilities.

TRT is added to the rental rate of hotels, motels, RV parks, and short-term rentals (STRs) for stays under 30 days. It is paid by the guest or renter and collected by the operator, who then remits it to the City.

Your feedback and input can help shape the future of tourism in our community and is valuable to the City Council.
