Domestic violence is not a private matter, but a serious, preventable public health epidemic that affects millions of Americans. The single biggest risk factor for domestic homicide is a prior incidence of domestic violence. Studies show that 50% of domestic homicide victims had been visited by the police for domestic abuse at least once previously.

DA Mike Schmidt Announces Grand Jury Indictment of Brandon Briscoe in Domestic Violence Homicide Case

Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt today announced that a grand jury indicted Brandon Lewis Briscoe, 47, on two charges relating to the recent shooting death of a woman in Corbett:

  1. Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm
  2. Felon in Possession of a Firearm

On June 3, 2023, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at an RV park located at 37000 E. Historic Columbia River Highway in Corbett. The caller indicated that there had been a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman, that gunshots had been heard, and that the man had left the RV on foot with a gun in his hand. Responding deputies located Briscoe in the parking lot of a nearby fire station and took him into custody; they found his wife deceased in the RV with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Briscoe made several statements to deputies about having killed his wife.

Briscoe was arraigned today and entered a not guilty plea. Deputy District Attorney Brian Davidson is the prosecutor assigned to this case.

A charging instrument is only an accusation of a crime. Briscoe is innocent unless and until proven guilty.
