Legislature Provides Funding for Latino Educational Training Institute (LETI)
OLYMPIA – Upon adjournment of the 2024 legislative session, Rep. Julio Cortes (D-Everett), is proud to share meaningful state funding for the Latino Educational Training Institute (LETI). This critical investment in the future of the Latino community includes $3.8 million from the state supplemental capital budget for a transformative Incubator for Family Success project.
Since 1998, LETI has empowered Latino immigrants in Snohomish County by providing essential services like language acquisition, job training, and financial literacy programs. The Incubator for Family Success will significantly expand LETI’s capacity to serve this growing population.
“I am deeply grateful for the partnership of community organizations like LETI,” said Rep. Cortes. “Their dedication to empowering Latino families is truly inspiring. This investment is a win for Snohomish County and a testament to the power of community collaboration with underserved communities.”
The Incubator for Family Success will be housed in a 15,000 sq ft facility in South Everett. This space will offer a variety of programs designed to meet the diverse needs of Latino families, including:
- Cultural Retention and Arts Center: A vibrant space for community events, celebrations like Quinceañeras, and performing arts programs, fostering cultural pride and engagement.
- Vocational School: Offering licensed vocational training to empower Latino micro-business owners and career changers.
- LETI Community Support and Resources: A hub for vital programs like wellness initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and support services for program participants.
“This project represents a major step forward in creating both new opportunities for individuals and families and serving as a cornerstone of our Latino community for generations to come.” added Rep. Cortes.
