Multnomah Co. District Attorney’s Office – 03/11/24
Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced today that a Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge sentenced Sarah Rebecca Salo, 46, to 79 months in prison after being found guilty of six counts of identity theft and property crimes in three separate bench trials.
Salo has a lengthy criminal history and has engaged in a variety of theft and fraudulent conduct. Much of her recent activity involves ID theft and “account takeovers” where Salo impersonated victims to access and then steal money from their bank accounts.
Deputy District Attorney Eric Pickard represented the state in each of Salo’s three trials, which took place in front of Judge Melvin Oden-Orr from January 3-8, 2024. Judge Oden-Orr delivered his verdict on January 8, 2024, and delivered sentencing on all guilty counts on February 15, 2024, as follows:
- 36 months for one count of Aggravated Identity Theft (22CR58979).
- 30 months consecutive for one count of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (22CR58979).
- 13 months consecutive for one count of Theft in the First Degree and two counts of Identity Theft (22CR42023)
- 364 days concurrent for one count of Giving False Information to a Peace Officer in Connection with a Citation/Warrant (22CR50709).
Additionally, Salo will serve three years of post-prison supervision.
Salo also faces charges of Burglary and Identity Theft, among others, in Columbia County, and, at the time of her sentencing in Multnomah County, had pending criminal matters in the State of Washington.
Salo is currently in the custody of the Oregon Department of Corrections where she will serve her sentence.
