Wasco County Commissioners met in a brief session yesterday. One of the few items on the agenda was approval for an ongoing grant to the YouThink program for overdose prevention and response. Debbie Jones, who heads that program, had some positive news for commissioners:
“If you look at the past year, the number of overdoses has increased. Our number of fatal overdoses has dramatically decreased. We know the fact that we’ve been able to give out a lot of naloxone and narcan into the community, that’s having a direct impact.”
And Chair Steve Kramer shared some good news from Salem, as the legislature winds down its final week.
“One good piece of the puzzle so far, Wasco County has received — if the governor signs the bill — $8 million for our resolution center. A lot of hard work by a lot of people working on that to make that happen. We certainly will be making the rounds on Monday to the offices to thank them personally for their participation in this process.”
