Bentz Votes to Keep Government Operating

WASHINGTON – Congressman Cliff Bentz (OR-02) joined Speaker Mike Johnson in voting for HR 7463, the “continuing resolution” which keeps the government open, the military paid, the FAA and TSA working, and the border patrol on duty up to March 8th and March 22nd. This gives Congress time to finalize the 12 budget bills that make up the discretionary part of the nation’s 2024 budget. In addition, the bill prevents the President from inappropriately initiating a congressionally unauthorized 30 billion-dollar expansion of a student grant program.

Congressman Bentz stated: “We must finalize our 2024 appropriations. The 2024 Fiscal year began on October 1st of LAST year! We are finally very close to agreement on many of the 12 budgets that make up the discretionary part of the budget. We need to get this important work done, and this bill helps us do just that.” The next several weeks will see important votes on all 12 budget bills.
