Montana neighborhood overtaken by tumbleweeds

Residents in Great Falls, Montana are being invaded — not by tourists, but by tumbleweeds.

The town on Tuesday, October 17, was overwhelmed powerful winds of over 30 miles per hour, and gusts of 50 miles per hour that brought with them a mess of tumbleweeds piled several feet hight, nearly covering some houses.

Great Falls resident Peyton Johnson tells KRTV that while occasional tumbleweeds are not unusual, she’s never seen it this bad.

“I heard it was bad because my husband was out earlier, but I didn’t think it was that bad, she continues. I was pretty shocked. I feel bad for these people, I don’t know what they’re going to do. Last summer it kind of built up a little bit, but nothing like this.”

A Great Falls Fire Rescue marshal told the outlet that they are reviewing options for clearing the area, but aren’t sure where to begin.
