Rolling in the Contraband: Cocaine worth $1.5M concealed in electric wheelchair

Hong Kong’s airport security team stumbled upon a real-life Wheel of Fortune as they unearthed a whopping 11 kilograms of suspected cocaine cunningly stashed within the cozy cushions of an electric wheelchair — worth an estimated street value of $1.5 million.

The dramatic scene unfolded when a 51-year-old traveler, fresh off a flight from the Caribbean paradise of Sint Maarten via Paris, rolled into customs clearance, according to BBC News. The airport’s security became suspicious during their regular inspection, discovering that the wheelchair’s upholstery had been re-stitched.

The traveler, who insisted he was the big boss of a car rental company and that a buddy had loaned him the electric chariot, is under investigation.

Now, he’s facing the possibility of a lifetime membership in the jailbird club, charged with drug trafficking.
