SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has mobilized two task forces to Linn County to help fire the emerging Priceboro Fire near Harrisburg, OR. The task forces are being sent through Immediate Response, a tool the OSFM uses to send additional firefighters and equipment outside of a conflagration. Harrisburg Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Forestry are in unified command and on scene actively fighting the fire.
The Priceboro fire began at approximately 4 pm on August 4th and is estimated at 100 acres. The fire is growing quickly, and OSFM has additional resources standing by to bolster additional response as needed. Level 3 evacuation notices are in place through Linn County Sheriff’s Office. The smoke is visible from Interstate 5, but no highway closures exist currently. Those in the area should be aware of the wildfire and check road information before traveling at www.tripcheck.com.
Weather conditions are expected to remain hot and dry, with some lightning in the forecasts for parts of the state. Please be aware fire risk increased due to the hot, dry, and windy conditions. The OSFM asks everyone to pay attention to these conditions and take the necessary precautions to avoid sparking a costly wildfire.
ABOUT IMMEDIATE RESPONSE
Immediate response is made possible through the OSFM’s Response Ready Oregon initiative, created through Oregon’s wildfire omnibus bill, Senate Bill 762, which was signed into law in 2021.
