The Goldendale City Council breezed through a few items in a 37-minute meeting Monday night. Key items on the agenda were the approval of a six-year street improvement master plan, as required by the state, and a pair of requests from staff to continue to work with a citizen with an unusual sitution regarding connecting to city septic, and with Rural Seven on changing the parking on Railroad Avenue to make it safer for their trucks to leave the fire station.
Under report of officers, Police Chief Mike Smith said a new squad car that was ordered last year had finally been placed into service, but it won’t look like other Goldendale Police Department cars:
“We did redesign our logo. I think it’s a more professional look for the City of Goldendale. One of the goals I had was to make the police department look a little more professional. I’d like to redo the rest of the cars as funds allow, so they all match the new one.”
Smith said currently the city’s squad cars sport three different logos from three different police chiefs.
And Councilor Miland Walling passed on a compliment:
“I just want to make a comment to the people of Goldendale on how good a job they have done on cutting their grass, cleaning up the streets and their yards. They’ve done a great job. We still really need to do a little more. We’ve really got a potential fire danger and people understand this so I think they’re really working at it.”
Councilors wished everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July and invited everyone to Community Days this weekend.
