Man threatens transit riders with rat named Jerry; Tom the cat unavailable for comment …

A Boston man was arrested for allegedly menacing people with a rat named Jerry.

The incident happened on the Boston transit system MBTA, which tweeted about the incident. The man, identified as 52-year-old Jeffery Stuart by WBZ, whipped out his pet rat and began “threatening” his fellow passengers. Apparently this isn’t the first time Stuart has done this.

Police took both into custody Thursday night after Stuart ignored several commands to leave the station. Authorities say Stuart had been drinking, and his behavior escalated into threats against police.

According to a prosecutor, the disorderly man had been “yelling at patrons and put a rat near their faces.”

As for Jerry, the little gray rat was surrendered to animal control.
